FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

edCetra Training Contributes to Backpack for Kids

Some children are headed to school this year with Dora, Tinkerbell, Shrek and Spider Man thanks to edCetra Training’s contribution to the Backpacks for Kids program – an annual drive organized by Sleep Country Canada from August 1 through September 1 to support children in grades one through seven who can’t afford new school supplies.

With help from edCetra Training, several fortunate children proceeded to class this year with a colourful backpack featuring their favorite animated characters and stuffed with accessories such as pens, pencils, erasers, binders and rulers, along with a delicious treat. Donations were dropped off at a local Sleep Country Canada store and distributed to local children through The Salvation Army and KidsFest, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping young Canadians who live at or below the poverty line.

Even though back-to-school shopping can be an exciting time, many Canadians can’t afford the school supplies their children require. Through Backpacks for Kids, edCetra Training is happy to have the opportunity to give back to the communities within which we operate. The staff at the local Sleep Country Canada were extremely happy and grateful, to see edCetra Training’s contribution. Just prior to edCetra Training’s arrival, the store was receiving calls from mothers looking for backpacks.

As a result of last year’s Backpacks for Kids campaign, more than 7,000 filled backpacks were distributed by The Salvation Army and KidsFest to deserving children and participating schools across Canada, a 900% increase from the previous year. Building from the momentum of last year, the goal for this year’s campaign is 10,000 backpacks.

A simple backpack filled with school supplies can make the difference to a child who can begin the year with an equal opportunity to succeed, and edCetra is proud to have contributed in making a kid’s back-to-school day a little easier.
